We are happy to announce the arrival of our very first litter!!
Our mama cavachon Patches did a very good job of delivering her first litter all with the help of my amazing husband who we now call the puppy doula! The day prior to their birth, the kids and I flew out to see my niece who was recently born. We had booked this flight a few months back and didn't know it would land on the due date of the puppies. Therefore, my husband, bless his heart, was there through the whole birth of the puppies.
The night of the birth of the puppies he and Patches fell asleep watching a movie on the couch. About 3:30 am my husband put Patches in her whelping box we prepared for her and within 30 minutes he went in there and a puppy was born! We knew it was supposed to happen by day 63 of her pregnancy and it had already reached day 63 so we were waiting eagerly!
I was already settled in sleeping at our hotel in Arizona and got up to use the bathroom and just knew I should check my phone. Sure enough I had missed a FaceTime call from my husband. I both nervous and excited, called him back and told me how the first puppy had made its appearance.
Prior to me leaving we had set up a wifi camera so we could watch Patches without interfering with her once the birthing process started just to be able to monitor and make sure all went well. So eagerly, I was able to log in to my app and see what was happening.
We soon found that it can be some time in between each puppies birth so I really didn't get much more sleep that night. And my husband got literally none!

As we came to the fourth puppy, we knew that one more was on its way as we had done an x-ray and ultrasound on mama to be sure we knew how many puppies to expect.
Well we did have a little scare about 3 hours had passed by and we still didn't see a fifth puppy yet. We called the vet and he assured us to wait another hour and just keep an eye on mom before possibly coming in. Finally, after another hour our last puppy made its appearance!
What a relief it was on both of us as we were really starting to get worried.
After all babies were born and accounted for, my husband let them all just settle and allowed mama to just have her space. Later in the evening my husband checked over the puppies and confirmed that we were blessed with 3 little boys and 2 big girls! How funny a thing that the two biggest in the litter are both the females!
We had a great time in Arizona snuggling my niece and when we finally made it home three days later we were definitely exciting to meet our little puppies and snuggle them.
With the help of my son, my daughter and my husband we picked out adorable and fun names for the puppies so that we may showcase them!
Introducing: Thor, Yukon, Superman, Meadow, and Rose.
